Dunkaccino No! (An open letter to Dunkin Donuts)

January 4, 2007

You can imagine my dismay when I pulled up to my neighborhood Dunkin Donuts and ordered a medium dunkaccino with whipped cream, (the only hot beverage I can actually enjoy from said establishment) only to find that they have replaced it with white chocolate hot chocolate. Sorry for the double noun there, but white hot chocolate just doesn’t seem right to me.

So grrr! This may have to be rectified by a letter writing campaign! I pulled up to pay for the regular hot chocolate that I had purchased instead and pleaded with the messy haired, overworked and underpaid drive through woman, who was like, “Don’t look at me, you’re like the millionth person to complain.”

I feel soo angry and shocked that they would secretly do this to faithful customers! Not even a mention on the website! Replace my favorite beverage with a completely unhealthy white chocolate drink? Don’t they know white chocolate is like, the worst for people?

I’m going to go cry in a corner now. RIP Dunkaccino. I will write your legacy and try to revive your spirit that was crushed so anti-climatically.

It’s back! Perhaps our prayers – and our emails to Dunkin’ Donuts’ website – for our favorite beverage’s return have been answered. I just found out from a co-worker that it was available again at our local store and immediately headed there to see if it was a dream. I just finished a LARGE cup and it was as tasty as ever! Thank you Dunkin’ Donuts!

OMG! I feel the same way! my best friend and I LOVE our dunkaccino’s. The whole summer we talked about how we couldn’t wait for it to get cold out so that we can drink them. When we found out we drove to 6 different Dunkins asking every one if they would just make it for us any way. This going to be a long winter with out my favorite drink. I’m gald to know I’m not alone with this sad sad news.

I know I was so mad when I found out. I actually went to DD 2 days ago and they didn’t have it! Maybe they just don’t have it YET if it’s coming back? I really hope so because the white hot chocolate is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever had.

I just discovered it was back TODAY when a bus drove by me and had a DD ad on it, picturing the lovely Dunkaccino! I said to myself, no way–it’s back!

I am saddened that all this time I could’ve indulged, but I guess it is best that I didn’t know till now. Now I will walk by the DD in the Sullivan Sq. T station every morning on my commute salivating for a dunkaccino.

I completely agree that it was a terrible and back-stabbing move they made, trying to take it away from us. The white hot chocolate thing was disgusting, I hope nobody drank it. Dunkin, you’re usually so good to us…don’t let this happen again!
